Let the Right One In
Raychel says:
If you’re looking for a foreign horror film, try Let the Right One In (based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist) is a new take on the vampire genre and follows a bullied 12-year-old boy named Oskar who befriends a pale young girl named Eli who shows up in their Swedish village. If this sounds familiar, there was also a late-2010 American film called Let Me In starring Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Drop Your Drawers Is Back!
We need your help for a good cause!
This fall and early winter, we are once again taking part in Drop Your Drawers @ the Library, a cooperative effort with libraries all across the state. This project seeks to ensure that every child shows up to school and stays in school for the whole school day in clean underwear that fits. Underwear is a basic need and one that is easily forgotten. Schools are handing out underwear on a daily basis to children who need a clean pair because of accidents at school or issues at home. Because parents are often unable to bring fresh underwear to their children during school hours, accidents can cause children to miss valuable learning time in the classroom.
Drop Your Drawers @BCPL in November and December
What you can do: Drop off packages of NEW underwear at any BCPL location. Boys and girls sizes 4–16 needed.
Our goal: Collect 5,000 pairs of children’s underwear. All donations will go to local public elementary schools to help replenish their supply of emergency underpants and to provide direct assistance to each school’s Family Resource Center.
The campaign officially begins November 1st and continues through December 30th. But wait… You can begin helping now!
Local businesses and organizations can be superheroes too!
Drop Your Drawers @ the Field— With the help of Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League, we did a little pre-gaming! Throughout the month of October, collection points were set up during youth football games for players and families to drop their drawers at the field. Last year, youth football participants dropped a total of 185 pairs of underwear at the admission gate! We can’t wait to see the results of our 2019 collection.
Additional Organizations—We are encouraging other civic-minded businesses and organizations to help with our cause by collecting packages of underpants from their employees or members. Large group donations should be dropped off at Bullitt County Public Library NO LATER than Monday, December 16th to allow library staff adequate time to count donations. Drop Your Drawers officially ends at 5:00 PM on December 30th.
QUESTIONS? Call Stephanie Lewis at 543-7675 ext. 2302 or e-mail Tracy Weikel at [email protected]. We can provide promotional materials for our campaign on request, and in some cases we can also make arrangements to pick up large donations from your business or organization.
2018 Collection
A total of 2,541 pairs of underwear were collected during our inaugural Drop Your Drawers drive in 2018. Every donation was greatly appreciated by BCPL, Bullitt County Schools, and the students and families that were helped by your generosity. However, the entire supply was gone by the end of the 2018–2019 school year and the supply at the beginning of the current school year was completely depleted. BCPS needs more undies! This year, please help us reach our goal of 5,000 pairs.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
Tracy says:
Starts off with a quiet, heart-pounding tension and doesn’t let go till the end. The two narrators are the perfect voices to tell a story about dying too young—and knowing it’s coming. I didn’t want to put this book down. Yes, the title tells us how it will all end (maybe… probably!), but the journey and the question of how they would die and how these two would connect along the way kept me completely hooked.

A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay
Selected by Beth & Lindsay
Colony
Tracy says:
I have a weakness for a good sci-fi, alien invasion show—and Colony delivers on all fronts. There’s loads of mystery and tension, along with a fascinating undercurrent of family secrets, betrayals, mixed loyalties, and political and moral gray areas. Plus, there’s Josh Holloway of Lost fame. But a word of warning: Unfortunately, this show was canceled after the third season. If you’re the type that will be forever haunted by a cliffhanger ending, you might want to stop watching after season 2.
Deadwood
Tracy says:
With the long-promised movie finally released a decade after the series ended, I’ve embarked on my third binge-watch of Deadwood. This convention-defying, profanity-laced Western takes place in the Black Hills of Dakota Territory, beginning in 1876. Real historical figures—Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, notorious brothel-owner Al Swearengen—are skillfully intertwined with fictional characters to bring the past alive. The episodes are bawdy and violent, but also really, really smart and addictive. It’s how I’d imagine Shakespeare would portray the Old West: complex, highly articulate villains; tragically flawed, conflicted heroes; and plots filled with machinations, betrayals, and bloodshed.
His Royal Highness King Baby by Sally Lloyd-Jones
Steph S. says:
A big sister’s perspective on a new baby brother. Fun illustrations support this hilarious story reminiscent of Cinderella.
