Enjoy a Colorful Challenge 🗺️🏆
June 1st–July 31st
- Pick up your Quest Card and stickers at a BCPL location near you. We have Quest Cards with challenges designed for Kids, Teens, and Adults. Transition ages are welcome to choose whichever challenge most appeals to them.
- Complete 5 total activities—one challenge per category—to complete your quest. (We encourage you to do more if you can, though!)
- Return your completed Quest Card no later than July 31st to receive your completer prize AND earn a chance to win one of our Bonus Prize Packages
Completer prize options include*:
- Babies and young toddlers: "Feed Me Books" bib
- Kids: Prize bag including sidewalk chalk, a spirograph, a magnetic board, and participants' choice of watercolor set.
- Teens & adults: A clip-on ring light and a portable power bank in black or white.
Optional: You can also register for your chosen SummerQuest Challenge in Beanstack if you prefer to track your progress online.

See What’s on Display This Summer 🎨✨
Color isn’t just part of the SummerQuest theme—it’s all over our walls! As you explore everything the library has to offer this summer, don’t miss the vibrant art exhibits on display at several BCPL locations. From bold community creations to curated collections that blend local stories with global inspiration, each gallery stop is a journey in itself.
👀 At Central Library
Right now, you can catch East Meets West: A Journey Through Art—an eclectic blend of Kentucky folk art, international flair, and unforgettable color, curated by local artist Dennis Shaffner. Later this summer, our exhibit walls get a delightfully dark twist with Twisted Self-Portraits, featuring eerie and whimsical self-portraits created by teens inspired by Tim Burton’s unique style.
🌈 At Mt. Washington
This June, discover Queer Threads, a tribute to LGBTQ+ identity through fiber art, pride flags, and handmade pins. Coming in July, don’t miss Trashion Fashion, a fierce and funky display of wearable art created at the library and made entirely from recycled materials.

Life in Full Color: A Summer Photography Contest 🌈📷
What colors make your world come alive?
From vivid sunsets to colorful foods and street scenes, capture the bold, bright, and beautiful moments around you. Submit up to three original photos that celebrate the role of color in your everyday life. Winners in three age categories will receive professional prints of their winning submission.
