About the Friends of BCPL

The Friends of the Bullitt County Public Library (BCPL) is a community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening and supporting our library system. The Friends focus attention on the Library’s services, facilities, and needs, encouraging donations, gifts, and advocacy to ensure BCPL remains a vibrant, welcoming hub for learning, creativity, and connection.

Every day, Friends of the Library groups across the country make a difference—and here in Bullitt County, our Friends help ensure that our libraries remain strong, relevant, and well-funded for generations to come.

Purpose of the Friends

The Friends of BCPL work to:

  • Increase library resources and services through fundraising efforts.
  • Advocate for the Library at the local and state level.
  • Promote literacy and lifelong learning through events, activities, and outreach.
  • Volunteer to support library programs that engage all ages and interests.
  • Support library staff professional development to enhance the quality of service to the community.
  • Promote the Library as an essential community asset for information, discovery, and connection.

Friends Activities

Through membership, volunteerism, and community partnerships, the Friends provide valuable support that extends beyond the Library’s regular operating budget. Some of the ways Friends make an impact include:

  • Organizing book sales, fundraisers, and community events that benefit Library programs and services.
  • Sponsoring educational and cultural programs that encourage reading and lifelong learning.
  • Donating funds or materials for special Library initiatives.
  • Volunteering time and skills to support events, outreach, and public engagement.
