“The Earth is what we all have in common.” –Wendell Berry
Celebrate the earth and explore environmental issues at BCPL’s first annual Earth Day Festival! Learn about environmentally healthy choices; protecting wildlife; reducing your carbon footprint; and how to contribute to a healthy, sustainable future. You’ll gain knowledge and know-how as you visit vendors and exhibits, create upcycled crafts, listen to music, and more. Plus, drop off your old electronics and cell phones for recycling and enjoy free giveaways—including wildflower seeds and tree seedlings!—while supplies last.
So far, confirmed community partners for this event include:
- Bee Is for Bullitt County
- Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest – Meet the Bernheim educational team, ask questions, and learn more about the Great Outdoors!
- Bullitt County Extension Office – Get tips on attracting and identifying butterflies, plus learn to germinate your own milkweed seeds.
- Kentucky Division of Forestry – Meet Smokey the Bear and learn about forest management and conservation.
- The Parklands of Floyd’s Fork – Check out their exhibit including animal furs, bones, owl pellets, and more.
- Technology Conservation Group – Drop off your old electronics for recycling! View accepted materials list.
Also featuring:
- The musical stylings of Over-the-Hill Gang, a local ensemble group that plays a mix of country, gospel, and oldies.
- Tasty treats from JW Moody’s Munch Wagon (purchases not provided).
- DIY craft projects, including T-shirt tote bags and bird feeders.
