Hang out and create at BCPL!

On the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Thursday of each month, come explore cool tech tools and techniques you can use to pursue your digital passions. A new topic—and sometimes an awesome guest speaker!—will be featured each month. We’ll also have drinks and snacks if you just want to chill and hang with your friends.

For middle & high school ages.
Just drop in! Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Questions? E-mail steven@bcplib.org.

Upcoming topics at this location include:

MARCH 5th: Intro to Computer Programming
Wanna learn how to program some cool games or animations? Or do you just want to know more about computer coding? Let’s get started with Scratch, a free—and very basic—programming language and online community that will enable you to create your own interactive stories, games, and animations!

MARCH 21st: Music Production
If you’ve ever wanted to make your own music—or produce your own version of a song—now’s your chance! Come learn the basics of creating your own digital music recordings and remixes.

APRIL 2nd: Screenshot Wars
Who’s the funniest of them all? Do you have the wit and technical skills to make people laugh? Let’s find out in Screenshot Wars! We’ll give you random screenshots from the internet. Your challenge is to caption, edit, and/or manipulate the original image in GIMP to make the funniest image of them all. We’ll face off for several rounds before declaring an overall winner!

APRIL 18th: Node.js Games
Step on down to play some wonderful, homemade games built in the Node.js JavaScript environment. We’ll play Wheel of Fortune, Trivia, and more! Perhaps you’ll even be inspired to design your own browser-based multiplayer game with Node,js!
