 Regional Director's Report:

Nelda handed out the new calendar from the regional office.Because of the cut back in funds, there will be only three trustee's workshops this year. There will be at Somerset, Pennyrile State Park, and Natural Bridge.

The book grant funds will also be cut.The Bookmobile grant is now gone. The year 2004 may see cuts in state aid.The book grant cut should not impact us too much this time around.

 Director's Report:

Selling the old Mt. Washington building is in the works. The attorneys are working out the final paper work.Randy and Bill have been working at cleaning out the building.

Dolorse Ashby made the motion to enter into Executive Session as to KRS 61.805-61.850.Pam Polston seconded the motion. The Executive Session began at 5:50 p.m.Joyce Manning made the motion to come out of Executive Session at 6:00 p.mDolorse Ashby seconded the motion.Dolorse Ashby made the motion to pursue a "friendly lawsuit" against the Susan Craik Trust.Pam Polston seconded the motion. The motion carried. The Board is asking for this "friendly lawsuit" in order to use the bequest as we see fit.

The Library Association has filed a suit to try to get Anthem to give us shares of stock from the demutualization.Randy attended a meeting pertaining to this just this morning. He will keep the Board advised on the progress.

Randy handed out to the Board a sample of a multimedia survey. We did one several years ago.He feels it is time to reassess our patron's needs in this area. The Board agreed this would be a good idea.Randy also passed out a copy of the stats for circulation and gave the Board an overview of them.

As the Board knows, we had a "fine amnesty" for the month of December. We collected canned goods in lieu of fines on books.Last year, we donated these to the Mt. Washington area. This year we are going to donate them to the Lebanon Junction area.

The Poetry contest was a success. The awards ceremony last night had a turn out of over 200 people. We will be publishing the poems in a book from.Tezeta Lyons, the person from KDLA that oversees these grants, came to the program.

Randy met with Publisher's Printing this past week about the progress of the wireless network. We were going to have to rent one of the towers (north of LJ) from a local radio station.Publishers' wants to use the wireless network for their back up system for their company. They have decided that they would rather purchase the land needed for the tower site. This will help us by letting us use it for free instead of having to pay rent.We have filed without phone lines with the e-rate people for the next year, so we need to have this in place by 7-1-03.

Dolorse Ashby made the motion to adjourn.Pam Polston seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 6:18 p.m.

The next meeting will be February 11th, at Ridgway Memorial Library, at 5:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted.
