It’s almost growing season again. But this year, you can step up your green-thumb game by choosing native plants!
Join Alisha Wilder of Grow Wilder Native Plant Nursery to learn about native plants, the advantages of growing them in your green space, and how to get started. With native plants, you can create a garden that serves as a helpful and safe place for local pollinators and wildlife and a beautiful, diverse oasis for you.
WORDS FROM THE PRESENTER
We want to educate the public on the importance of growing native plants in their landscape. If everyone added a small-scale native garden in their urban areas, the result would be more pollinators, more local birds, and all around more diversity of wildlife.Read MoreWith developments on the rise, more and more areas are becoming barren of any wildlife and the effects are detrimental to our ecosystem. Ninety percent of insects, including your pollinators, require a native plant host to complete their life cycle. Also, tallgrass prairies are the most threatened major ecosystem; 99% have been plowed or paved over since the early 1800s!
We can work together to make a difference in the way we […] utilize our green space by choosing natives over store bought cultivars. Not every flower in your garden has to be native, but once you start planting and see the difference it makes, it will entice you to want more!
