DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT UPDATE 6/28:\nThis thing is huge! Based on new information from Rauch Planetarium\, we learned that their portable display is too big to fit in our Mt. Washington facility as originally scheduled. So that you can still enjoy this one-of-a-kind opportunity\, the program has been moved to Paroquet Springs Conference Centre\, located at 395 Paroquet Springs Drive in Shepherdsville. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.\n  \n\n“There is nothing bigger or older than the universe.” -Stephen Hawking \nJoin us as Gheens Science Hall & Rauch Planetarium brings the universe to you through the Owsley Brown II Portable Planetarium! Spend an afternoon in space with fun activity stations and an awe-inspiring planetarium session that will allow you to explore the cosmos in person. Whether it be a flight through the Milky Way or a trip to the edges of the known universe\, visitors to the portable planetarium will enjoy an immersive\, visually stunning experience. \nPsst… Signups for each session will begin 15 minutes before the viewing. You must be present in the library for at least 5 minutes prior to the session you plan to attend. Different sessions are designed for the understanding and enjoyment of different age groups; each presentation will last approximately 20 minutes. \nPlanetarium Viewing Sessions:\n\n\n\nAges 4–11\n1:00 PM | 2:00 PM | 3:00 PM | 5:00 PM | 6:00 PM\n\n\nAges 12 and up\n1:30 PM | 2:30 PM | 3:30 PM | 4:30 PM | 5:30 PM | 6:30 PM\n\n\n\nPlus\, before or after your viewing session\, you can get creative at one of our space-themed activity stations and learn about Apollo 11’s journey and man’s first steps on the moon. We’ll also be giving away an awesome\, rotating moon-and-star nightlight projector! \nABOUT GHEENS SCIENCE HALL & RAUCH PLANETARIUM\nThe planetarium serves a variety of audiences\, including pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students\, college students\, and the general public. Its goal is to advance understanding of the universe in which we live\, address the National Science Education Standards\, state level curriculum science standards\, post-secondary education\, and serve as a public resource for astronomical and space science information. \nFor all ages.
