DESCRIPTION:I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years\, and I can say what most conductors can’t say—I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.  –Harriet Tubman at a suffrage convention\, NY\, 1896. \nAll aboard! In honor of Black History Month\, join us for a special evening storytime celebrating African American heritage. We’ll enjoy stories about some significant African American figures and read some fantastic picture books written by African American authors. Plus\, create your very own Freedom Quilt squares! Some believe that slaves used a code of patterns to create “Freedom Quilts” that provided hidden signals for travelers along the route of the underground railroad. \nFor children of all ages and their families.
