…And Happy Halloween! There’s lots of exciting things happening at the Library, from tonight’s Halloween Doctor Who Dance to the launch of our long-awaited, brand-new website! The new website, featuring a modern, user-friendly interface, is designed to make important featuresโlike upcoming events, research databases, and e-media linksโeasier to access. Overall, we think the new look is much more functional and a lot prettier! The new site is set to go live the week of November 12th. We’ll keep you updated on the timeline on our Facebook page.
If you have thoughts you’d like to share about our monthly newsletter, we’re also still collecting information with our Library Bulletin Feedback survey. As always, feel free to contact me with any suggestions, questions, or concerns you may have. Your feedback is important to us!

With the start of autumn last week, BCPL is gearing up for some great seasonal fall and winter programming! This includes Batty for Bats and a return engagement from Bright Star Touring Theatre for their deliciously funny, not-so-spooky performance of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. For the past few years, this performance has been a big hit with the kidsโand the parents! Because of the positive feedback we’ve received, Bright Star has become one of our most frequent guest performers.
From programming to library facilities, the feedback we receive from our patrons is essential to the decisions and developments that will shape the Library’s future. In the full, print version of our October newsletter, Library Director Joe Schweiss talks a bit about the early stages of our strategic planning process and our intention to host forums and other events so we can get the information we need to make YOUR library the best it can be.
For now, we are hoping to get your opinion on thisโour Library Bulletin. If you can, please take a month to complete our Library Bulletin Feedback survey. We’d like to know what content in our monthly newsletter you find the most useful, which sections you couldn’t care less about, and what types of information you’d like to see more of!
As always, feel free to contact me with any suggestions, questions, or concerns you may have.

August has been a hectic monthโschool is back in session and the Library has been busy with solar-eclipse excitement and the opening of our new Mt. Washington Branch Library. But now that September has arrived, we have new things to be excited about, including the beginning of our 2017โ2018 Toddler Storytime & Storyhour season, a Dedication Ceremony for the new library, and our annual celebration of National Library Card Sign-up Month.
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. It is a time when the American Library Association and libraries nationwide join together to remind parents, caregivers, and students that signing up for a library card is an important step towards academic success and lifelong learning. This year, we are further demonstrating the power of your library card by teaming up with local businesses to provide you with exclusive discounts and special deals! We hope you’ll have an opportunity to take advantage of these savings throughout the monthโand when you do, please remember to thank participating Bullitt County businesses for supporting the Library.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions, questions, or concerns you may have.
Cheers and happy saving!

Our SummerQuest celebration may be officially over, but BCPL still has plenty of exciting things happening through the rest of the summer! Our top breaking news is that we are finally ready to announce a date for our new Mt. Washington Branch Library.
A Dedication Ceremony is planned for Saturday, September 9th! And as soon as possibleโdefinitely BEFORE the Dedicationโwe will open to the public. We don’t want the scheduling conflicts and advance notice requirements that come with a formal event to delay the opening, so we are saving the formal celebration for later and opening the doors as soon as we have our materials moved in and the keys in hand. We’ll let you know on our website and on Facebook as soon as that date is determined. You can learn more about our new buildingโand everything else happening at BCPL this Augustโin the print edition of out August 2017 Library Bulletin.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions, questions, or concerns you may have.
