Event Planner

Location: Central Library (in Shepherdsville)
Deadline: Wednesday, July 10th by 8:00 PM

40 hrs./wk.; $18.09/hr. Benefits include retirement, health insurance, life insurance, and paid sick time and vacation time plus personal time after an initial employment period.

We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and creative individual with highly developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Library event planners are responsible for planning and implementing events and other activities for their designated location and target audience(s) that align with the strategic plan while maintaining an awareness of the programming efforts and goals across the system. This position will be tasked with providing events for children and families. Familiarity with children’s literature, early childhood development principles, and early literacy and kindergarten readiness strategies is desired.
The successful applicant will also be responsible for fostering community connections with local schools and organizations, promoting the Library and its resources in coordination with other departments, and representing the Library in a positive and welcoming light at the Library and throughout the community. At least one year of library experience is required, with some college preferred.
The person in this position will work the following rotating schedule, though flexibility may be needed within this framework to accommodate special activities and community events.
  • Monday, 12:00–8:00 PM
  • Tuesday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Alternating Fridays & Saturdays, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Custodial Assistant

Location: All locations
Deadline: Open until filled

20 hrs./wk.; $15.26/hr. Benefits include paid holidays and sick time. Vacation and personal time will be available after an initial employment period (vacation time begins accruing immediately but can’t be used during the first six months).

Custodial assistants work under the direction of the Facilities Manager to maintain the appearance and good operating condition of library facilities and grounds. This position will primarily focus on maintaining landscaping and parking lots. However, there will be some interior cleaning (primarily on Mondays and Tuesdays). Must be willing to work outside. Must have reliable transportation, auto insurance, and a safe driving record with the ability to transport materials and work at multiple locations if needed. Please list any special skills such as landscaping, plumbing, electrical or carpentry on your application

  • Monday & Tuesday, 6:00–11:00 AM  @Nichols Branch Library
  • Wednesday, 6:00 AM–11:00 AM  @Central Library in Shepherdsville
  • Thursday, 6:00 AM–11:00 AM  Will rotate between Hillview Branch Library, Lebanon Junction Branch Library & Mt. Washington Branch Library
